Prayers and Inspirations

Wisdom teaches self-control and prudence, justice and courage; nothing in life is more profitable for men than these. Wisdom 8:7
This meekness and humility, Pope Francis said, helps restrain us from imposing upon others “our own personal views, our judgements, our criticisms our indifference.”
Vatican City, Jul 6, 2014 / 11:03 am (EWTN News/CNA)

Pope Francis pleaded: “May the God of peace arouse in all an authentic desire for dialogue and reconciliation. Violence cannot be overcome with violence. Violence is overcome with peace!” usccb.org

“It is the personal encounter that changes the vision of the other and softens the heart. In the end, love is the answer, and this can happen even between people with such deep disagreements,”                                     Salvatore Cordileone (EWTN News/CNA)

“two groups of people,” noting that they are those who are “gentle, sweet people, humble, open to the Holy Spirit,” whereas the others are “proud, self-sufficient, detached from the people, intellectual aristocrats, who closed their doors and resist the Holy Spirit.” Bishop of Rome - Pope Francis ewtn

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:2

There is always so much to gain. Practice looking for the good and you might just create it as you go.                   BY THOMAS PETERS
Whether He asks us to be bold or whether he leads us gently “the virtue is in allowing ourselves to be carried by the Holy Spirit, in not resisting the Holy Spirit, in being docile to the Holy Spirit,” the pontiff continued, “And the Holy Spirit works in the Church today, is acting in our lives today.”
Explaining how there are some who might say they have never seen him, Pope Francis encouraged them to “pay attention to what is happening, to what comes to your mind, to what comes in your heart. Good things? It is the Spirit that invites you to take that path. It takes docility! Docility to the Holy Spirit.”Pope Francis ewtn

Man is too quick to condemn, God is too quick to forgive and to heal.

Let us always be mindful of our call to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. This is a sign of great mercy that we can perform.

It costs so little to teach a child to love, and so much to teach him to hate.

The Spirit then is the closest divine person to us whose proper work is to unite us to the Son, thereby forming us into sons and daughters of the Father.Defendants rejoin that the laws serve a central state interest of linking children to an intact family formed by their biological parents. District Judge Martin Feldman New Orleans, La., Sep 4, 2014 / 06:02 pm (EWTN News/CNA)BY MATT HADRO

                  How can I start Praying?
Just do it. If you are a human being, and you believe that there is a God that cares about you, then you can pray. It is that simple. No rocket science here. You can use written prayers such as the Our Father, Hail Mary, etc. Or you can simply express in your heart to God as you would to a best friend, and then wait in silence for God's response. God always communicates with us but many times in ways that are not perceivable by the senses. Usually, God touches the soul with a great infusion of love, peace and joy. You can pray by singing, writing a poem to God, journaling (writing your experiences of prayer in a journal), painting, composing sacred music, creating a work of art that represents your prayer experience, etc. You can also use Scared Scripture (the Bible) as a way to begin your prayer. The Holy Spirit always touches us in profound ways every time we ponder and meditate on God's word. The favorite prayer of our Lady is the Rosary and we should try to please her by every day saying at least one Rosary while meditating on the mysteries of the life of Christ, praying in a special way for our families and peace in the world.
The greatest of all prayers is obviously the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass which is the most sublime prayer of Christ Himself to the Father. By joining Christ in this form of prayer we perform the highest form of activity in our lives. Participation in the sacraments in general (including Confession) and in any other liturgical function is also an exalted form of prayer.

A loving family taking care of their children in a traditional marriage will create the chance to break out of poverty far better, far better than any of the government programs that we can create... God has given every child the ability to learn. It is up to us to organize ourselves in a 21st-century way to assure that they do. And if we do that, this country will take off. This country will soar. Jeb Bush

Every child that isn't born, but is unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of Jesus Christ, has the face of the Lord. Things have a price and can be for sale. But people have a dignity that is priceless and worth far more than things.
Pope Francis - HLI

I wish they would work as hard at this as they do at their books, and so settle their account with God for their learning and the talents entrusted to them. This thought would certainly stir most of them to meditate on spiritual realities, to listen actively to what God is saying to them. They would forget their own desires, their human affairs, and give themselves over entirely to God's will and his choice. They would cry out with all their heart: Lord, I am here! What do you want me to do? St Francis Xavier ewtn

                                        The People's Pope
He makes masterly use of 21st century tools to perform his 1st century office. He is photographed washing the feet of female convicts, posing for selfies with young visitors to the Vatican, embracing a man with a deformed face. He is quoted saying of women who consider abortion because of poverty or rape, “Who can remain unmoved before such painful situations?” Of gay people: “If a homosexual person is of good will and is in search of God, I am no one to judge.” To divorced and remarried Catholics who are, by rule, forbidden from taking Communion, he says that this crucial rite “is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.”...
And so Francis signals great change while giving the same answers to the uncomfortable questions. On the question of female priests: “We need to work harder to develop a profound theology of the woman.” Which means: no. No to abortion, because an individual life begins at conception. No to gay marriage, because the male-female bond is established by God. “The teaching of the church … is clear,” he has said, “and I am a son of the church, but”—and here he adds his prayer for himself—“it is not necessary to talk about those issues all the time.”

                  Lord teach us to pray
Moved by our Lord's dedication to prayer, His disciples asked Him once "Lord teach us to pray." In answer, Our Lord gave them the model of all prayer: "When you pray, say: Our Father Who art in heaven..."...
This is the way Msgr. Josemaria Sescrirva de Balaguer taught and lived throughout his life, a life of prayer. "Let us begin to do the same with God; we can be quite sure He listens to us and answers us. Let us pay attention to Him and open up our soul in humble conversation, telling Him in confidence everything that is in our heart: our joys, sorrows, hopes, annoyances, successes, failures, even the most trivial happenings in our day. We will discover that our heavenly Father is interested in everything about us."...
Let us entrust our prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. May She, who needed only to embrace her Son to make her prayer heard, teach us to pray as she prays, with the utmost confidence not because of our own worth, merit or devotion, but solely because of the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
